Mar - Hobbies

I'm sure she did something to deserve it

Too much of the cutesy, simple cartoony style. I wanted to see if I could still draw my Mar characters. I also haven't really drawn them together..which is silly and neglectful. I'm going to work on that and try to challenge myself more.

I have a bigger scene planned for this sketch, with a background and such but I'm not sure when I'll have the time to finish it. So I am sharing this sketchy thing here.

Mar - Dyre and Mitra designs

Redesigning my two main characters drove me to look through my old designs of them.
Every style I've tried on these two lies in this collage. Even a few very very old traditional sketches.

The biggest ones are obviously the newest, the rest are in no particular order but I believe the larger ones are newer. The center images are of the characters together. There is even a size chart in there, featuring the other stars of the story (I'll put up a collage of them when I have the new designs worked out).

The oldest picture in that mess is a traditional one of both of them, the lady with the tiny fairy on her shoulder. It hardly looks like them. I have drawn many more of these two but this is all I still have, I gave away or threw away a lot of my old sketchbooks.

Some of these are embarrassing.

It's good to look at how far you've come though, to remind yourself that maybe you're not as bad as you think.

So, have some embarrassing sketches and see the evolution of some characters.

Mar - Dyre, The Bound Goddess Sketch

Dyre - The Bound Goddess

Another redesign. Just a rough sketch for now.

Mar - Mitra, the curious fae

Mitra, the curious fae

Made some adjustments, added rough colors and tried out some quick poses.
I think this pose works much better, the staff made little sense for the character.

Mar - Mitra sketch

Mitra, the curious fae (full size is big)
New design for an old character. Very rough.

Comic Practice

Recently began an honest attempt at comic creation. I am going with thumbnails only for now, so as to not scare myself.

The idea is; if I can get twenty pages thumbnailed I will consider myself capable enough to actually start the comic and dedicate my time to it.

I...like to plan things.

Quick Sketches pt2

1 minute poses - Dyre

These poses were a bit tricky, especially due to her long waist and legs. Roughly a minute each.

Quick Sketches

30 second pose practice - Mitra

Other things I work on are character poses. These are always quick, messy and often without reference. I like to see how well I can figure out a pose without having to find a reference for it.

This particular character is from a story I've been working on for a long while. There will be a great of sketches and such from it as I am mildly obsessed and hope to make it into a comic at some point.
